What was Tabu Mayfair?
Tabu Mayfair was a nightclub and lounge in Mayfair, on Dover Street within walking distance of The Ritz. The spot once known as Mahiki, Tabu Mayfair turned it into a new concept unlike anything London had seen before. Rumour now operates at the same address.
Yuki by Tabu, on the first lower ground, offered a Japan-inspired experience with a pink-toned lounge serving sushi and cocktails with a Japanese twist.
Once you walked into the second lower ground, though, you could see why it was a strong pick for where to go dancing in London.
Dancers, towering Japanese video game characters, live singers, and arcade games could be found in the various dark corners of the nightclub. At Tabu Mayfair, there was no shortage of fun or surprises.
Music at Tabu Mayfair
At Tabu Mayfair, you could expect the latest hits, RnB, hip-hop, pop, and a selection of commercial music: all the types of songs that get people dancing.
The DJs at Tabu were seasoned professionals, adept at timing the songs and setting the pace of the night to keep the energy up.
How Did You Get into Tabu Mayfair?
Tabu Mayfair was an exclusive venue with a strict dress code, and mixed groups were advised to book a table in advance. On nights featuring artist performances, reservations were a must.
